A night at the Oscars

Last night the 83rd edition of the Academy Awards was held in Hollywood with Anne Hathaway (hate that girl!) and James Franco (love that man!) as the hosts of the show. For me the sensation of the night was when the danish director Susanne Bier won the Oscar in the best foreign film category, yeah!
Susanne Bier receiving her award from Russell Brand
As I didn't have time to go to the show myself (hate it when that happens), I can only imagine what it would be like if I had gone. I would wear a beautiful dress like some of these people:
Natalie in Rodarte, Mandy in Monique Lhuillier, Michelle in Chanel and Mila in Elie Saab (and my favorite).

And I would of course have a sexy man at my side, like one (or all) of these:
Justin in Tom Ford, Robert (the best dressed man in my opinion) and Matthew in Dolce & Gabbana.

The souvenir(s) I brought home you see here:
Best film, actress, supporting actress and actor (because there was no one better)
If you find me a bit delusional, I only had a couple hours of sleep because I watched the show all night, but long live the dream!

Burberry blues

Yesterday, I was dreaming me away to London, where Fashion Week is on it's highest. The show of the day was in my opinion Burberry Prorsum, so I lurked in with the help of Burberry.com, who transmitted the show live. Lots of colors such as blues, greens and oranges, but also the classic black/white combo is the way to go for fall/winter 2011 according to Christopher Bailey. Great sixties music set the stage along with falling snow which started and ended the show (making all the models wear cool transparent rain-capes. Nice touch, mr. Bailey). I'm sure these blues will not turn into a winter-depression...

Diane Von Stripenberg

London Fashion Week is taking place right now, but as I'm in Copenhagen, busy at school and saving for a Mulberry bag (uhhhh), the only fashion I am getting at the moment is on the internet. Here are some beauties from Diane Von Furstenberg that I wouldn't mind finding in my closet tomorrow (s'il vous plait). Did I mention, I absolutely loooove stribes?

Here comes the sun

Is still sick (Come on!), so I'm feeling pretty miserable most of the time:-( One thing that keeps me alive though, (besides the mountains of chocolate, bad TV and piles of magazines) is this fantastic song by the most inspiring people who have ever sat their feet on earth - hope they can inspire the weather to behave...

Have a great friday:-)

Update: This song was completely slaughtered on the danish version of X-factor, so it's off my playlist. Luckily I'm not sick anymore, so no need for feel-good music at the moment:-)

The cure

I'm still in bed with an extremely sore throat (...pause for pity...), and I'm beginning to feel a bit/VERY bored! So with my newest best friend Tinker Bell (A.k.a the computer as monsieur boyfriend calls her), we have started to come up with a plan to get me up and about quickly. We both agree that you most often look how you feel, so we've found these fabulous tops (Also known as Chloé, Rika and Sonia) that would make me feel/look fantastic in no time.

But as my bank account is suffering from the financial crisis (or to much shoe-shopping lately), I'm bound to feel more like this, but with uglier hair:

One of my friends is coming over later for coffee in exchange for gossip (She had a Valentines date, even though she won't admit it), so I look forward not to be bored for at least a couple of hours.

Plans

My plans for today were to do some laundry, go running, do my homework (yes, I still have that even though I go to university), go to class, write a creative post on the blog and a lot of other stuff. Instead I'm in bed with the sorest throat you could ever imagine. So now, the only thing I can do is to crawl up in bed, drink camomile tea and read blogs on my new computer. Maybe it's all right sometimes with a change of plans...

These boots were made for business

As promised, a picture of my newest addition to "The Collection" - The Bizzes
Picture from Smartgirl

I would have taken a picture of my own beauties, but I have been preoccupied all afternoon, as Santa stopped by with a new computer for me. Merry Christmas to me:-) But back to the business - I think one of the things that made me fall in love at first sight was that they reminded of one of my favorite shows from when I was younger. But before I tell you which one, I must mention that, when I watched it, it was associated with eating cake or drinking chamomile tea (= good times). The TV-show I am talking about is "The Little House on the Prairie", where Laura Ingalls handled her business wearing boots like these. I know it's a bit weird, so don't jugde (and don't tell anybody that I watched it as late as this morning).

Getting older

Yesterday I went to see Black Swan - better late that never, right? Beautiful, but very uncanny. I usually don't watch scary movies, as I get nightmares (Yes, my mental age is 5 and 3/4), and when I have to, I only watch them with monsieur boyfriend at my side. Yesterday though, was girls' day out, so my weak nerves were on their own! Even though it was really creapy at times, I held my head high (and sometimes looked away), as I don't think my girl friend would care to hold my sweaty hand or appreciate me sitting on her lap for the duration of the film. I didn't have a single nightmare (maybe this was due to the many glasses of red wine I had last night - It was saturday after all), so I have upgrated my mental age to 6, and celebrated it with a shoe purchase that I will show you tomorrow. For now, I will leave you with some pictures from my visit to Opéra Bastille right before Christmas, where I saw...(drum roll)... Swan lake.

"Good hair-day"-creators

Today, I finally recieved some things that I've really looked forward to getting, and that is monster-size editions of my favorite hair-care brand, Redken, yeah! I started using the Extreme-series about six months ago, and my hair has never looked and felt better (- at least in my opinion). I decided last weekend, that it was time (after almost 26 years in denial), to accept my curls, so I have switched to the "Fresh Curls"-range, and used it today for the first time.
They both make my bathroom and my hair look good;-)
I purchased my wonders (together with my "can't-live-without"-treatment, Anti-Snap, which is perfect for an anti-blogger) online at a website called Ezzence.dk, which sells all sort of fabulous skin- and haircare products and cheaper too. Even though it took them almost a week to deliver the products, I would definitely recommend the webshop to everybody, and here is why: Last night I sent an email about the delay to their customer service department, and just 15 minutes later, I recieved a really nice reply/apology, saying they would take care of it as soon as possible, and so today I recieved the package. That's the best service I have experienced in a very long time, and totally made up for the late delievery (Which probably only is due to the postal service!). It is definitely not the last time I buy my precious hair-care products from Ezzence - You should try them to:-)

If I was rich...

Speaking of shoes, I wore my new Zadig et Voltaire boots for the first time today, as they had to get new soles on, before I could use them, and I didn't want to do that in Paris. I think Zadig et Voltaire is the only boutique I've ever been in, where I could buy absolutely everthing (If I was a millionaire of course), and now that the fabulous Erin Wasson is the inspiration for the 2011 season, I wish I was a billionaire! Just look at some of the pictures from the collaboration.

How beautiful are these shoes?

For all the boyfriends reading/watching: Calm down! They are only origami, but for your information - A girl can never have to many pairs of shoes! (Or is it just my monsieur boyfriend who thinks that?)

Please think you are better than everybody else!

In Denmark we have this thing called "Janteloven", which is a code of conduct written in a book by the danish author Aksel Sandemose in 1933. It essentially says: "Don't think that you are special and do not think you are better that everybody else", and in my opinion more danes live by this conduct than than the ten commandments in the Bible (That's why the devorce rates are so high!). When I lived in Paris I tried to explain this very danish concept to my french friends, but they didn't go for it at all, and I probably should have expected this, as the french are not famous for their humbleness. I mean, where in the world do find people that:

1: Refuse to speak other languages than their own, and ignore your: Je ne comprend pas", taken from the huge parleur in your hand (Hello, why don't you understand that I just want new soles on these shoes that I'm showing you (!!!), and not to buy a license plate (more !!!!!!), for a car that I don't have. Why do they sell those at shoerepair-shops by the way?).

2: Go on strike at least 6 days a week, making the metroes so overcrowded that you accidentially crab a guy's very private parts instead of your bag (Yes, it happens).
Picture from Skyscraper City
3: Think that the only possible center of the universe, is France

Dispite this arrogance I still admire them for dressing up on a boring tuesday, refuse to give up their heels even if they have a broken leg, drink redwine at lunch and wear bright red lips just because they feel like it. They can really get away with everything. I study biochemisty at the University of Copenhagen, and in that crowd the coolest outfit is a T-shirt with a picture of you girlfriend/boyfriend - Yes, some people wear that! So when I show up with my Bayswater, Blahniks and black diamonds you are (wrongfully) diagnosed as a snob. However, the correct diagnosis is "stylish" and the treatment is high heels, red lips and lots of champagne - Vive la France.

Keep on running

This weekend I took a run for the first time in about 6 months, and it didn't look like this at all:
Hillary Swank doing her stuff
In Paris, if you don't live next to a park, it almost imposible to find a place to run, as the pedestrians don't give you the space in the street (And yes, it is more fun spending the time living la vie parisienne with cocktails, petits fours and shopping. You know, when in Paris;-) ) So now, my wonderful life in Paris, is biting my everyday life in Copenhagen's ass! That's why I have set my personal goal for the fall - I'm going to run the Eremitage, which is the oldest exercise race in the world (according to their webpage), and is 13,3 km long. Then, if it hasn't killed me, I will move on to the marathon! I mean, when all the celebreties are doing it, how hard can it be?

Daydreaming

I spend the entire day yesterday cleaning, and (day-)dreaming me far far away to a place where everything is simple, and concerns and worries are illegal. I blame it all on this song...

Have a great sunday;-)

Good things come in small packages

Copenhagen Fashion Week is upon me, so yesterday I went to the Danish Museum of Art and Design, where there was a talk about fashion magazines through time. It was the director of the library Lars Dybdahl who gave the very interesting talk, and I could tell he really had a great knowlegde not only about the journals, but fashion in general. Fantastic! Afterwards I went through all sort of fashion magazines, which were laying on every table in the beautiful old library.

There were magazines such as Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire, but also magazines that you've never heard about and from all over the world (So weird reading a japaneese magazine, when everything is backwards!). I also had the amazing chance to look at original drawings by the danish designer Erik Mortensen, who designed for Balmain many years ago.
When I got home I could hear my french Vogues, from my stay in Paris, calling, so I took a trip down memory lane...

My american friend

Finally I'm back in Denmark! Had a hard couple of days, saying goodbye to Paris and hello to Copenhagen, but now I am starting to get organized. This however takes time, which is why I haven't posted anything lately (Sorry).
I have sublet my apartment to an american girl who is here for her studies, and she has really turned out to be quite a friend. I mean, she gave me the perfect excuse for not studying this weekend, as I had the great plessure of having to clean up the apartment (Can you feel the sarcastic undertone?). It was so dirty, that it took all(!!!) weekend to get it back to a state, where it wasn't a health hazard to live here. She had really gone all in on trashing the place, leaving dirty towels for me to wash and furniture to reorganize. She even left me an open bottle of tequila for my surprise cleaning up party. So nice of her!
Cleaning is however so much more fun, when done in a fantastic pair of shoes, like my newest addition to the shoe collection;-) Did I mention they were 70% off?
My Manolo Blahnik-cleaning shoes
PS: Decided to stick with the Zadig boots, which made my total of shoes bought in Paris 10. What can I say? I'm a shoe-girl.
