Meet the Stones

What a night! Yesterday I went to see the duo Angus and Julia Stone in Vega with my very cultural friend. We started our friendship in Paris, along with our knowledge of the Stones, and both have grown ever since. So when she wrote me some time ago to tell me they were during a gig in Copenhagen, we both booked our tickets on the spot!
And then came the day of the battle. The night I've been waiting for with great expectations, and oh boy, how they lived up to those expectations. 1 1/2 hours of truly beautiful music, what more can you ask for? They managed to create a relaxed atmosphere, where everyone could just enjoy the moment and let go of all troubles, just for a little while.
If you ever get the chance to meet the Stones, be prepared for a lifelong relationship with two amazing Aussies who will, without a doubt, have a song for any state of mind.

Here's a little introduction from me to you. Hope you enjoy it despite of the poor quality and my shaking hands. Happy monday:-)

100 things I want to do before I die... #97

Guitar Hero

I would really like to learn how to play the guitar. It actually started on the evening of my graduation, where I had my 15 minutes of "primary school-fame", when I was seen talking to the cool guy at my school. He was sitting alone and playing the guitar - I was a bit tipsy/really drunk, and thought: How hard can it be to make music on a piece of wood with 6 strings? We got talking, and he agreed (or maybe my drunken-self forced him) to one day teach me how to play Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. However, we never got around to that, as I didn't dare to talk to him again.

When I meet monsieur boyfriend, he was the lead-singer/guitarist in the coolest rock band at my high-school, so I hoped I might get another chance to learn to master the instrument. Unfortunately, I later found out that he's left-handed, so now, more than 7 years later, we've only made it to "The wheels on the bus...". Never the less, that doesn't kill my ambitions, so if you know, if this guy gives private lessons, please let me know.

Culture?

Yesterday was spend with a very cool and über cultural friend, watching a danish documentary about Karen Blixen as a voodoo-vixen (!!!). Well maybe that wasn't the main point of the film, but that was what I got out of it. I must say, it has been a while since I've felt this misplaced (I mean, how long has it been since you have been to a cinema where nobody ate popcorn and everybody sat still while ALL the credits rolled over the screen at the end?), but there's nothing a bit of high street power-shopping can't make up for - Thank you Weekday!

4th of May

Tonight, 66 years ago, Denmark received the message that we had been liberated from the germans after having been occupied during the World War II.

To remember a difficult time in danish history, and to celebrated its end, please put candles in the window ledge.

Malmö - Del två

As mentioned in yesterday's post, monsieur boyfriend and I went to Malmö during the weekend on a small but nice getaway. When we weren't walking around in the beautiful city, we were resting our feet in one of the many cafés and restaurants. One, which is worth mentioning is the Café Moccasin, Fersens Väg 14. It didn't look like much from the outside, but the food and ambiance was truely amazing.

If you are in the mood for a fantastic espresso or latte, please do your self a great favor, and go to Solde Kaffebar (Regementsgatan 2). It looks like a bit of a dump, but their coffee is the best I've ever tasted (and that says quite a lot after having spend six months in Paris). As a bonus the coffeehouse has the cutest dragon-drawings on the walls which each have a funny remark, as the one in the picture below - Some dragons are never alone (True that...)
But no coffee without cake (...if you ask me anyways...), and for that purpose I can highly recommend Pronto on Lilla Torv. According to themselves, it's "the home of the cheesecake", which is quite the accomplishment, when having numerous New York-cheesecakes on the menu, weird swedes! And when talking of weird swedes, one restaurant lured with having genuine swedish beer, Carlsberg. That statement really hurt my danish heart, so no tips that time around.
Also Lilla Kafferosteriet can be recommended, but there were so many people waiting in line, so don't go there if you are in the mood for a quick coffee-fix, as you might have to wait for a while.
Hope you are not tired of Malmö yet, as I have one more post for you with shopping-tips and a bit of a dilemma I would like to get you opinion on...

Malmö - Del ett

As you might know, I have been on a small getaway to the gorgeous city of Malmö, Sweden. Ever since I got back from my stay in Paris in February, I have wanted to get away from boring Copenhagen, so I decided for monsieur boyfriend's birthday to give him (and my self of cause) a two-day trip to Malmö. We took the train to the Central station, which was a 10 minute-walk from the four star hotel that I had booked. The weather was absolutely fantastic, so most of our time was spend walking around, eating amazing food and doing a bit of shopping. The first buy I will show you is a giant bag of candy, which is very cheap in Sweden. I know it it's a bit of a tease, but I've been so tired from being on my feet for two days straight, that I have spend most of the day watching TV and eating my "godis". I promise, I will show you more tomorrow. Have a great sunday:-)

How trendy is Malmö? Candy in a color-blocking bag. Nice
